I have owned this truck since new back in November 2000. She is a keeper. She has turned into a family project with input from everyone. A few family vacations have been planed around racing events. All work with the exception of the trans install and engine assembly have been carried out in my garage by my family and me.

 

On a side note my Son Josh and I are probably amongst the fastest Whipple installers on Lightning’s ever. We have it down to an art. The latest install took less the 20 mins.

 

The truck is a regular at Abq National Drag strip. I have raced this truck since the strip re-opened. I have managed to improve my ¼ mile time here each year. Currently the truck has a best time of 10.91 sec recorded in Kansas. Since Budlong Motorsports rebuilt the engine she has ran 11.02 here in Albuquerque. The truck should be capable of around 10.3 – 10.4 at sea level. If I ever install nitrous this setup should be good for 9s. Not to shabby for a 4800-pound street truck complete with all the creature comforts she was built with, a/c, power steering etc.

 

I do not really care about dyno numbers. I much prefer a good time slip. However for the record she has put down well over 600 hp and well over 700 tq at the tires.

Kansas City

 

The truck was built for normal street use and not competition but I have competed at the following events.

 

I recorded the fastest time for a Gen 2 Lightning at Lightning Fest 2006.

Competed in two Fun Ford weekend Events.

Competed In Two No Bull events.

The truck was featured as RSW ride of the month.
